Good morning!
Not much to talk about today as our heroes stood pat once more. It’s only July, but it’s also almost August, which is the month before training camp... Anyway, it’s fine. I’m sure it’s fine. It’s probably fine. It might be fine.
...Will it be fine? I’m thinking no.
The Open Championship started this morning, and given the time change you’ll be able to follow the afternoon tee times along while at work if you can find a way to stream it. That’s how I’m gonna be spending most of my work day.
The Oilers’ farm club in Bakersfield added a few new bodies to their roster on AHL-only deals.
A story came out yesterday indicating Connor McDavid’s desperation to play in the playoffs. The buzzword of the summer, ‘stability’, is mentioned in the subhead. Yeesh. If only that buzzword was something like ‘being good’, or ‘not being bad’, maybe we’d have something of a competitive roster heading into the season. If they go another year in the bottom third though, I imagine that same article gets printed next summer but with the addendum: “Somewhere else.” If not next summer, it can’t be too many summers after that unless they get significantly better, relatively quickly.
Here’s hoping Gaetan Haas is actually Mario Lemieux, right?
