Hope you all had a great weekend. If it was anything like mine, it was 363 days too short.
Another slow weekend regarding the Oilers which is, as it has been all summer, disappointing. At some point it sure would be nice to see Ken Holland try and improve his hockey club in the near and long terms. If he doesn’t get some of it done this summer, he’ll have too much to do next season. Which, will mean another year of not icing the best possible group around Connor McDavid. They have a lot of money coming off the books after this season, but a lot of players, too:
$24M in cap space sounds cool until you add that the Oilers have $57M committed to only 10 players next year. Pencil in $7M for Nurse because they can't help themselves and that's $17.5M left over for 12 roster spots. Now how does that sound? They need to shed another $10M.
