Oilers Round Out Draft with Maxim Denezhkin

The Oilers opted to go for a Russian with their final pick of the 2019 Draft

That’s a wrap!

The Edmonton Oilers ended their draft by selecting 5’9 Russian Centerman, Maxim Denezhkin.

Denezhkin spent last season in the MHL with Loko Yaroslavl putting up 39pts in 51gp. He did get a one-game try-out in the KHL but came away with nothing to show for it.

His stat line doesn’t scream too much in either direction of play-maker or sniper as he put up 22 goals and notched 17 assists.

Maxim Denezhkin will most likely join 3rd round pick Ilya Konovalov next season in the KHL with Lokomotiv Yaroslavl....who, interestingly enough, is coached by former Oilers executive Craig MacTavish.

Denezhkin was ranked as the 41st best European skater in the draft.

Did the Oilers have a good draft? Let me know in the comment section below.
