Well, folks. He did it.
The very same night that Bob Cole serenaded us during the early Hockey Night in Canada game for the last time, Leon Draisaitl became just the 92nd NHL player to score 50 goals in a season. Truly, a remarkable achievement to tie up a wonderful individual season for Edmonton’s young superstar. To reach such a milestone against the Flames in Calgary makes it that much sweeter.
An excellent pinch by Andrej Sekera on the right wall allow him possession before finding Draisaitl with his back to goal. The Good Doctor quickly turned and beat Mike Smith to his left to give the Oilers the lead, 1-0.
Remember where you were when Leon got fifty. It’s a big deal.
