A bit more morose this morning as it’s starting to feel like all of the goodwill afforded by their 5-0-0 (and 7-1-0) start has evaporated after posting a meagre 3-4-2 record since, with one — yes, one — regulation win in those 9 games.
Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl once again factored in on both Oilers goals and I’ve gotta tell you, it’s beginning to look a lot like last year.
Game recaps galore this morning and a few bits and bobs from around the team to get you through this off day as we eagerly anticipate Taylor Hall’s return tomorrow night. And, hopefully Jersey’s still bad and the Oilers can rediscover some of their mojo. Or at least steal a game via the Devils’ horrendous goaltending. Either way, they need some points.
As per Dave Tippett’s availability last night, expect some changes to the roster in the coming days as the Oilers’ newest bench boss tries to find something, anything.
And I really can’t stress this enough, if you’re a fan of deep, considered analysis, it behooves you to read Scott Wheeler’s breakdown of Jesse Puljujarvi’s season-to-date in Finland. It’s worth the free trial by itself, if you haven’t signed up for The Athletic yet.
Cheers, and we’ll see you next time.
