The Edmonton Oilers have recalled defenceman Caleb Jones. Jones gets the call because Brandon Manning injured his hand in a fight with Sharks forward Barclay Goodrow in the midst of a 6-3 loss to San Jose.
Drafted in the fourth round of the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, Jones leads all defencemen in Bakersfield with 10 points (2-8-10) in 13 games. Jones spent 17 games with the big club in 2018-19, where he scored six points (1-5-6). A left-handed shot who plays on the right side, this call-up could be Jones’ big break.
Jones will likely be the 7th defenceman for tomorrow’s game against the Colorado Avalanche, but it could lead to a roster move in the not-too-distant future if he’s in the lineup and shows well.
Keep your eyes peeled.
