Hope the long weekend treated everyone well. It was a busy one, news wise.
The big story over the weekend is of course the end of an era, with Don Cherry’s most recent racially-charged rant proving a bridge too far for his corporate overlords. In what was surely a long time coming, Rogers announced their decision yesterday.
I’m very conscious to say I’m not speaking for the site here, but for myself: In what can only be considered a disappointment, our poll results yesterday revealed a ton of pro-Cherry sentiment among respondents. That’s too bad, Cherry’s been a nationalist for as long as I’ve been alive and as far as I’m concerned, if you show me a nationalist, I’ll show you a piece of shit.
Otherwise, the Oilers are in San Jose tonight to battle the Sharks, who, despite winning three on the bounce, are surprisingly on the wrong end of .500 and languishing near the bottom of the Pacific Division.
Adam Larsson is nearing a return and that means Ken Holland and Dave Tippett have some choices to make: might Persson see time in Bakersfield? Does Holland try to move Kris Russell to make room for both? Is Caleb Jones ever going to get a call this season?
Leon Draisaitl became the league’s top scorer with another four assists in Anaheim, while Connor McDavid added his fifth career hat trick. Will the Oilers duo of superstars go off again in San Jose?
In what likely comes as no surprise, Jesse Puljujarvi confirmed that his plan is to stay in Finland and play the full year with Karpat, trade or otherwise.
Get yourselves read up with all you missed over the weekend and wheel it back around for our typical GAME DAY routine. See you later!
