Hey, welcome to the first installment of my weekly series on what’s going on in Bakersfield, and other non-NHL teams that may be of interest to Oilers fans.
The Condors started off their season this past weekend, earning 3 of a possible 4 points. They beat the San Diego Gulls, who eliminated them from last year’s AHL playoffs, by a score of 2-1. They then lost 4-2 in overtime to the Ontario Reign. Josh Currie and Kailer Yamamoto led the way, with a pair of goals each.
If you would like to learn more about the season outlook of the Condors, and the rest of the pacific division of the AHL, check out this piece that I contributed to, via Jewels from the Crown.
In other news, the University of Alberta Golden Bears played an exhibition game this past weekend, in Duluth, Minnesota, against the two-time defending NCAA hockey champions, the UMD Bulldogs. The Bears won 5-3.
That’s all for now. If there are any other local or otherwise affiliated minor-league teams you would like to receive updates about, via this article series, please let me know in the comments.
