New, comments

Todd McLellan returns to Edmonton as his Kings look to start their season with a win while the Oilers look to improve to 2-0 with a new-look defense.

Connor McDavid’s first, most, and least successful (read: only) NHL coach makes his return to Edmonton tonight as Todd McLellan’s LA Kings get their season underway tonight on Hockey Night In Canada.

Leon Draisaitl and Mike Smith were heavily involved in the Oilers’ win over the Vancouver Canucks and look to repeat their performances tonight. McDavid was dealing with a bit of rust early on but still managed to split and separate two helpless defenders en route to the GWG.

Tomas Jurco and Patrick Russell will make their season debuts tonight for Josh Archibald and Alex Chiasson who will both miss out due to illness.

Saturday night’s haven’t been too kind to the Oilers in recent years, so let’s hope Dave Tippett can get his group ready for primetime tonight. Join us in the comments throughout!
