Josh Archibald’s broken foot may have happened in third period in Wpg when he blocked shot and got big salute from McDavid on bench— Jim Matheson (@NHLbyMatty) October 25, 2019
If Josh Archibald broke his foot two games ago and played those next two games, that’s bananas. Produce aside, Archibald is to be out for the next few weeks to a month, and the Oilers are going to have to call someone up. Who will be called up?
The Oilers have a few choices among who they will decide to pull up from Bakersfield. Kailer Yamamoto would be my first choice (6 GP, 4-1-5 in Bakersfield), though Josh Currie (6 GP, 4-1-5) might get a look as well. Yamamoto is waivers exempt, while Currie would need to pass through on his way back down.
A 2017 cup winner with the Pittsburgh Penguins, Josh Archibald is averaging a little more than 11 minutes in eight games so far. He has yet to score a point in an Oilers sweater.
The Oilers are off until Sunday where they will host the Florida Panthers.
