It’s a day for games as our Oilers are back in town to play host to the Philadelphia Flyers tonight at 7:30 MST. Edmonton is looking to bounce back after a lacklustre effort in Chicago that saw them drop their first points of this young season.
Listening to Lowetide’s show yesterday, Dom Luszczyszyn from The Athletic noted that the Oilers hot start has been so significant that it has improved their playoff chances (by his model) from about 25% to just under 50%, in other words, the Oilers are basically a coin flip to make the playoffs now. It was a big start.
But the thing about those big starts, and that increased percentage, is it only means something if the Oilers can build off it and continue to win more than they lose. They’ve probably been fortunate to do that so far, so here’s hoping in the coming games they can establish themselves a little more and continue to gather points.
We’ll have more game day coverage for you as our PREVIEW, 5 QUESTIONS, and GAME THREAD posts will be going up throughout the day. Get yourselves read up and we’ll see you later on.
