Ryan McLeod was sent back to Mississauga today after a fine camp with the Oilers. This leaves just five more cuts before the regular season. A couple of Oilers on tonight’s roster could be on the bubble tonight as the Coyotes are in town. The Oilers are coming off a 6-0 romp over the Vancouver Canucks, can they keep the good times rolling at home?

THREE THINGS TO WATCH FOR TONIGHT

  • Mikko Koskinen is slated to get the start in net for the Oilers tonight. We’re getting to crunch time for Mikko Koskinen. The guy’s got to put forth a convincing 60 minutes so that some sort of credible argument can be put forth about him being at least the second best goalie on this team. A rocky first performance against the Flames was followed up by a better performance against the Jets. He’s got to nail this one down tonight if he wants to hold his head above water. Al Montoya should start on Saturday versus the Flames.
  • The more and more I see Jason Garrison in the lineup this preseason, the more and more I’m inclined to believe that he might be the PTO contract they sign instead of Alex Chiasson. Then again, they **could** afford two PTO contracts if someone cleared waivers (I’m also starting to believe that the club is entertaining the idea of starting with 8 defencemen on the roster). Jason Garrison is paired up with Ethan Bear to start tonight.
  • Will Rattie-mania continue? Rattie leads Edmonton’s preseason scorers with 10 points in three games (7-3-10). Rattie is likely the Oilers’ 1RW to open the season, will this translate to big points once the season starts?
