The Oilers are in Winnipeg to take on the Jets. Edmonton scored seven times in their victory against Winnipeg on Thursday, they’ll look to keep those good times rolling in Manitoba tonight. With the Jets dressing Patrik Laine, Mark Scheifele, Blake Wheeler and Dustin Byfuglien, Winnipeg has brought out some of their top firepower for tonight’s game. Can the Oilers stay afloat?
THREE THINGS
Oilers expected lines tonight:
— Reid Wilkins (@ReidWilkins) September 23, 2018
Rieder-McLeod-Yamamoto
Khaira-Strome-Puljujarvi
Caggiula-Brodziak-Kassian
Malone-Marody-Aberg
Six D are Nurse, Benning, Gravel, Garrison, Jerabek, Bear.
Koskinen backed up by Montoya.
- SECOND TIME’S A CHARM - Mikko Koskinen will start tonight, and is expected to play sixty minutes (or more). He’s going to need to put together a performance that’s better than 3 goals allowed on 19 total shots against a Flames B team, plain and simple. He’ll have plenty of chances tonight.
- 5-6-7...8? - By my eye, there are four defencemen in tonight’s game who could possibly be competing for the bottom pair as well as the 7th defenceman. Depending on whether or not the Oilers decided to carry three goaltenders into the regular season, there could also be room for an eighth.
- Ryan McLeod is the centre for the line featuring Kailer Yamamoto and Tobias Rieder. The second round selection from Mississauga has impressed so far in main camp. Can he create some chemistry on the top line between 2017 first rounder Yamamoto ad the newly re-acquired Tobias Rieder?
