The #Oilers have assigned goaltender Shane Starrett to the Bakersfield @Condors, reducing the training camp roster to 34 players (3G, 12D, 19F).

With each passing minute, the regular season is inching closer (we’re exactly two weeks away from Oilers / Devils on the 6th of October). With that in mind, the Oilers reduced their training camp roster by exactly one today. Shane Starrett has been shipped off to Bakersfield, and that leaves three goaltenders in main camp in Cam Talbot, Al Montoya and Mikko Koskinen.
KOSKINEN TOMORROW
Koskinen to get the full game in Winnipeg tomorrow.

Oh, this is going to be a big one. Fans might have been willing to chalk up Koskinen’s debut performance to nerves, but he’s going to have to be quite a bit better than yielding three goals on nineteen shots like he did against Calgary earlier in the week. A strong outing by Koskinen will help his argument to start the season as Cam Talbot’s backup. Allowing a couple of loafers (or allowing the first shot on goal like against Calgary this past Sunday) will have the boo birds out early.
