HOME SWEET HOME
The Oilers are back at Rogers Place to take on the Winnipeg Jets. The Jets are on the first game of a back-to-back, so they’ve got a few more prospects in their lineup than the Oilers do. Edmonton will have Connor McDavid out on the ice tonight along with some familiar faces in Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Leon Draisaitl, so things could get out of hand early on. Either way, it’s great to have NHL hockey back in Edmonton tonight.

THREE THINGS
- ON (Mc)CLOUD NINE - Why yes, that is Ryan McLeod in for Ryan Strome alongside Jujhar Khaira and Jesse Puljujarvi. McLeod’s appearance in Ryan Strome’s usual spot probably doesn’t mean very much from a roster standpoint, but it will be fun to see if he can create anything special between Khaira and Puljujarvi. He’s already hitting Kailer Yamamoto with passes from behind his own goal line. McLeod turns just 19 years of age tomorrow. What’s next?
- FIRST FOR NURSE - It’s been just a few days since Darnell Nurse signed a new contract, but we’ll see him in the lineup tonight alongside 2018 first round draft pick Evan Bouchard. I’m still of the opinion that Bouchard has a fair shot to make the club out of camp.
- TALBOT TIME: Cam Talbot is slated to play the entire game tonight. Mikko Koskinen will likely get some more time in goal when the Oilers travel to Winnipeg on Sunday. After Koskinen’s debut against the Flames, I’ll be anxious to see if we can chalk his first preseason performance up to just some jitters.
