The Oilers have added a player to their training camp roster.
The #Oilers have signed Alex Chiasson to a professional tryout. The 27-year-old forward played 61 games for the Capitals in 2017-18, recording 18 points (9G, 9A) & added another goal & assist in 16 playoff appearances. pic.twitter.com/cdiBPYZXXX

Alex Chaisson joins Jason Garrison and Scottie Upshall as players on professional tryouts this year.
Chaisson put up 18 points in 61 games with the Capitals last year and another 2 points in the playoffs to help win the Stanley Cup. He’s a right wing, so he might have a bit of a chance if FearOfRushing prevents the far superior Kailer Yamamoto from making the team. In reality, this is probably just camp filler. The roster looks pretty full already, and I don’t see him as a needle mover. On the other hand, if this convinces someone to sign him and waive Drake Caggiula, that would be cool.
Oilers are bringing Chiasson in on PTO. He had 9 goals and 18 points in 61 games, was on ice for 47% of 5v5 goals, 42% of expected goals, and Corsi of 44%. His expected goals and Corsi were -4.9% and -4.6% worse relative to teammates. He scored 1.27 P/60. https://t.co/ur8pEkGe8g

Let’s see how he looks. Camp starts in a few days.
