It’s not often here at the Copper&Blue where we write reports on things we first heard about from HF Boards. Typically when someone writes things on the site, it’s treated as a rumor that’s worth about as much as a major in philosophy. This time however, it turned out to be correct.

So Sekera will again start the year on the IR. This time, with a torn Achilles tendon.
This will allow the Oilers to go above the cap by 5.5 Million dollars after the season starts. It doesn’t look like they were planning to add anyone, but maybe that has to change now. The Oilers really missed Sekera when he was gone last year, hopefully they can find another solution.
Ideally, Sekera was going to be starting on the bottom pairing with Kris Russell to start the season; So on the bright side, we may have only lost a player for the powerplay and 12 minutes per night. We’ll see how that goes.
This is really starting to look like Rej might be making his way to LTIRetirement. Best of luck with his recovery. It’s a doozie.
