Monday Morning Hot Links

NHL: NHL Draft Jerome Miron-USA TODAY Sports

Good morning everyone. After a week-long absence, I am back to doing the links. A big thank you to Corey for filling in for me while I was gone. Lets get to it.

Ilya Kovalchuk has decided to sign with the LA Kings in his NHL return. He got a pretty big deal to do so. (Sportsnet)

John Carlson also signed a new contract prior to free-agency. He went with the full 8x8 with the Washington Capitals. This was a player that I was sure the Oilers were going to “create cap space” for. No longer. (Sportsnet)

Apparently the Oilers were in the market for trading up in the draft to land Bouchard. Luckily, that wasn’t needed and they snagged him in a great spot. I still think Kailer Yamamoto was more of a steal just because that wasn’t a top-10 pick, but damn if this one wasn’t a shocker. (Edmonton Journal)

John Tavares is going to meet with five teams now that the free-agent window is open. Also, if someone wants to go hang out at the airport and stop bad players from visiting the Oilers, it would be greatly appreciated. (Yahoo)

That’s all for now. Hopefully by the time you read this, I’ll be back on the east side of the rockies.
