Nick Ellis has announced his retirement today. He did it via Instagram, which is a little bit more swanky than when Jesse Boulerice’s wife announced his retirement via Facebook.

An undrafted prospect who spent three years with Providence (NCAA), Ellis spent the last two years in Bakersfield where he posted a .918 SV% in 2016-17 and a .898 SV% this past season.

Ellis posted two shutouts in his Condors career, one each season. His shutout in 2017-18 came against the Ontario Reign, which is conveniently below this sentence in highlight form courtesy of Edmonton Prospect Watch.

You can count on the AHL for a couple of things, and the biggest thing you can count on is that their picture quality looks like you’re watching a game from 1978.

CUP, ETC

Caps look to avoid going down two games against the Vegas Golden Knights tonight. Puck drop is listed at 6 PM Mountain / 8 Eastern, which is about 6:27 once the pregame ceremony is over.
