It took seven games, but the Boston Bruins put a lid on their first round series against Toronto Maple Leafs with a 7-4 victory last night. Toronto entered the third period with 4-3 lead, but four different Bruins would score in the third period to make sure the Bruins ended up on top. Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci would each finish with three points, three different Bruins would finish with two. The Bruins are headed to the second round to face off against the Lightning.
THE REST
- Nashville vs. Winnipeg is being lamented as the series with the two best teams. It’s absolutely true that one of these teams will face off against San Jose or Vegas in the third round, but life isn’t fair. Kind of like how the rest of the NHL will feel when the Oilers somehow win the NHL Draft Lottery this weekend.
- San Jose vs. Vegas - The Golden Knights have surprised all season and through the first round of the NHL Playoffs. Can they continue their unlikely run through San Jose?
- Washington vs. Pittsburgh: Maybe this is the year where the Capitals can break through the Eastern Conference. If memory serves me correct, it’s been 20 years since they’ve played in the Eastern Conference Finals. If they somehow fail to get there, I’m sure it’ll somehow be Alex Ovechkin’s fault.
OILERS
Just two more sleeps until the NHL Draft Lottery. Get your party hats ready.
