Couple thoughts
- WHEN THE BULLET HITS THE BONE: It’s time to put up or shut up. The Oilers need to go on a pretty epic tear in order to have a shot at the playoffs, and they’ll have an opportunity to make a statement tonight with Tampa Bay in town. Tampa is the best team in the Eastern Conference, they’ve got the NHL’s point leader in Nikita Kucherov and a goalie that’s stopping nearly everything.
- LET’S TAKE A LOOK AT THE OILERS’ SPECIAL TEAMS: Has there ever been a team that’s had the worst power play and the worst penalty kill at a given time? Maybe the 92-93 Senators? How about this year’s Oilers? 14.2% on the PP, 71.7% on the PK. Ask for it by name. Yeesh.
- LINE SWITCH? - Enjoy the lines against Colorado? You’re in for a treat tonight. Because they’re back! Well, except for Kassian. Good ol’ Iiro Pakarinen is here tonight instead. That’s right, Cammalleri-McDavid-Draisaitl and Maroon-Strome-Caggiula. Lucic-Khaira-Puljujarvi will be there too. All your favourites. Fourth line of Slepyshev-Letestu-Pakarinen should also be there. Look for the D-pairs to remain at 77-83, 25-83 and 2-4. Talbot to start instead of Al Montoya.
