Vegas Golden Knights Claim Valentin Zykov

New, comments

Zykov averaged 7:08 in five games with Oilers

Not since Nathan Walker have the Oilers lost someone to waivers so quickly.

The best-named free agent the Oilers have landed in a while has been claimed by the Vegas Golden Knights. Valentin Zykov was being shipped to Bakersfield in favour of Kailer Yamamoto, but his trip to California was abruptly put to a halt by the Vegas Golden Knights.

The Oilers picked Zykov up on waivers from the Carolina Hurricanes earlier this month, but the winger never really got much time to make an impact in Edmonton. Zykov played in just five games for the Oilers, averaging just over seven minutes per game. He scored no points during his Edmonton tenure. He joins Pacific Division rival Vegas, where he’ll probably get a shot at some mid-six minutes on a thin left wing.
