The Oilers have made a few roster moves since it was revealed that Oscar Klefbom will be out for a few weeks with a Hand/Finger injury.
The #Oilers have activated forward Drake Caggiula from Injured Reserve in addition to placing defenceman Oscar Klefbom on IR & assigning forward Cooper Marody to the @Condors. pic.twitter.com/62coLxlQ3j— Edmonton Oilers (@EdmontonOilers) December 12, 2018
Drake Caggiula has been activated after being placed on IR for a hand injury of his own. Where he slots into the lineup remains to be seen, but I’d bet it’s on the 2nd line where Jujhar Khaira was playing.
The Oilers have also reassigned Cooper Marody to the Bakersfield Condors.
With Klefbom out for a few weeks, the Oilers are going to have to do something to fill that spot. Jason Garrison will likely get put back into the lineup sporadically, but I do wonder if there is a plan to call up Caleb Jones.
Injuries happen. This is why I stress the importance of calling up players to see how they do before it becomes a necessity that they instantly play well.
No word yet on how close Tobias Rieder and Andrej Sekera are to returning, but having Klefbom on the IR allows the Oilers to kick the can down the road a bit longer with the looming cap crunch once that happens.
Oilers recall Caleb Jones.
