The Oilers have made their first AHL call-up after Tobias Rieder left Tuesday’s game against the Canadiens with an injury.
The #Oilers have recalled forward Patrick Russell from the @Condors. The 25-year-old from Denmark has scored 4 goals & 5 assists in 11 games this season with Bakersfield. pic.twitter.com/bai94XeLwO

Patrick Russell — no relation to Kris — has scored nine points in eleven games with the Condors and should slide into a bottom-six role until Rieder is ready to return.
Interesting to see that they went with a veteran call-up here, I suppose the Oilers have been listening to some fans here, and want to leave Tyler Benson down with Kailer Yamamoto and Jesse Puljujarvi to create some very entertaining hockey in California. We knew they were going to call up a forward, I was thinking it would be either Benson or Brad Malone.
We shall see if he gets into the lineup on Saturday against the Flames.
Coach McLellan says @TobiRieder8 will miss about a month with his upper-body injury.
