THREE (and a half) THINGS
- For better or for worse, what you’re going to see this afternoon is the crux of this year’s 23 man roster. Adam Larsson is hopeful for Saturday’s season opener, while Kris Russell is looking towards the club’s second game of the season to make his debut due to injury. This is it, you guys. Playoff bound?
- Mikko Koskinen is likely to get the start in this morning’s contest. Can he take a big step forward and show that he’s the clear number two goaltender on this club?
- CLOSE TO THE EDGE: The top line of Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Connor McDavid and Ty Rattie is going to have to dazzle all year. Let’s see some of that today.
- 1⁄2 -Yes, that’s the Ryan Jones suiting up for Cologne today. Jones spent a little more than four seasons in the Oilers organization from 2010 until the 2013-14 season. A quick stop in the Canucks organization came after, he’s now in his fifth season in Germany. Jones’ best was in 2011-12 when he posted a 17-16-33 statline.
