It’s Game Eight And Jesse Puljujarvi Is A Healthy Scratch

They’re doing that thing again. You know the thing.

A team-low nine minutes of ice time for Jesse Puljujarvi against Pittsburgh on Tuesday leads to being a healthy scratch tonight against Washington. The fourth overall pick from the 2016 NHL Draft will have a seat in the press box tonight along with Zack Kassian. Jujhar Khaira and Drake Caggiula are expected to be in. Khaira was a healthy scratch last game, while Caggiula recovered from an undisclosed injury sustained last week.

Cam Talbot will start for his eighth straight game.

As I mentioned earlier today, I get that there’s some consternation as to where Puljujarvi belongs on the depth chart. I think we can safely say that scratching him is probably not the brightest idea in the box. It leaves a RW depth of Yamamoto, Caggiula, Marody, and Chiasson, which is something I think I’d expect to see on a decent AHL club.

What are we doing out here?
