Oilers Recall Cooper Marody

Ty Rattie to injured reserve

NHL: Preseason-Winnipeg Jets at Edmonton Oilers
Marody has six points in five games with Bakersfield (2-4-6)

The Oilers are six games into the 2018-19 regular season, and the injuries are starting to add up. Ty Rattie missed Saturday’s 3-0 contest against the Predators with what’s being called a muscle injury. His timetable is a couple of weeks. The Oilers are already down Drake Caggiula, so Cooper Marody was recalled from Bakersfield today.

Marody was shipped to the Oilers for a 2019 third round pick. The forward has six points in five games with Bakersfield so far this year (2-4-6). Marody could play on Tuesday versus Pittsburgh.

ETC

Kevin Gravel was called up to the Oilers on Friday, and I wouldn’t be too surprised to see him in the lineup for Tuesday’s game against the Penguins. Matt Benning is on the IR with an undisclosed injury, and it’s probably in Edmonton’s best interest to see some fresh legs in for Jason Garrison. If Gravel can show even modestly well, I’d think there’s a place for him in the lineup at least as long as Benning is out.
