Earlier in the day, the Oilers sent Jakub Jerabek to the St. Louis Blues for a conditional draft pick. Several hours later, the Anaheim Ducks claimed Pontus Aberg.
Aberg came from Nashville at the trade deadline last season when the Oilers shipped Mark Letestu to Nashville. The Predators flipped Letestu to the Columbus Blue Jackets for a draft pick.
Aberg didn’t have very many miles (he played 50 games when he was dealt from Nashville). He spent most of his time with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins and Leon Draisaitl, though it wasn’t much time at all. Aberg didn’t spent less than 100 minutes with each player. Aberg didn’t have himself the most noticeable of preseasons this season, and was subsequently wavied yesterday. Enter Anaheim.
Aberg’s time with the Oilers finishes at 16 GP, 2-6-8. With Aberg now a member of Anaheim, and Jakub Jerabek now in St. Louis, the 23 man roster is coming into shape. The Oilers have 25 players (plus an extra goalie) over in Germany today. Two of those players are on PTOs in Alex Chiasson and Jason Garrison. Might we see both of those players signed when they come back to North America?
