FIRST LOOK
It’s September 8th and the YoungStars tournament is ready to kick off in Penticton. The Oilers’ YoungStars face off against Calgary’s YoungStars, and not a moment too soon. For most of us, it’s a first glimpse at a herd of Oiler hopefuls. For the players, it’s a first test. There’s plenty to see, so let’s not wait any longer.
Let’s check out the Edmonton’s lines.

Oilers D/G in Penticton vs Calgary:

Jones-Mantha
Pailin-Bear
Samorukov-Lagesson
Wells/Skinner
- First and foremost, the 2017 first round draft pick Kailer Yamamoto will be on display on a line with Joseph Gambardella and Ostap Safin. There’s already been more talk about Yamamoto’s 155 pound frame to last an entire year. He’s not Milan Lucic, we are now all very aware of this fact. Yamamoto will be teamed up with this year’s fourth round selection Ostap Safin and 23 year old Joseph Gambardella, who has a two year deal with the Oilers.
- 2017 fifth round selection Kirill Maksimov starts off on line two with a couple of invites in Davis Koch and Chad Butcher
- Lots to look forward to on the D. Caleb Jones and Ryan Mantha are on the top pair, while Ziyat Piagin and Ethan Bear are on line two. The freshly signed Dmitri Samorukov pairs with William Lagesson on the bottom.
- Dylan Wells and Stuart Skinner will split time tonight.
- For the Flames, look for the much chattered-about free agent signing Spencer Foo to see plenty of ice time.
- LET’S. GO. OILERS!
