Third Round of Cuts

The Edmonton Oilers have trimmed their roster. The Following players are being cut loose:

  • Nick Ellis
  • Patrick Russell
  • Ty Rattie
  • Dillon Simpson

Ellis and Russell will be immediately assigned to the Bakersfield Condors while Ty Rattie and Dillon Simpson will have to clear waivers first.

The only thing surprising about these cuts is the fact that Mark Fayne wasn’t included. He’s not going to make the team but it appears he’s going to get another preseason game at least.

Kailer Yamamoto is impossible to cut right now, he’s earned the 9 regular season games at the very least and if he continues to play the way he has, he’s going to play a lot more than that.

The Oilers are likely to continue trying to will production out of Jesse Puljujarvi and hope that he somehow gains hockey sense to go along with his high-end individual skills.

The Roster is looking more like an NHL one by the day and the camp battles should start getting more intense.
