Still Perfect

Edmonton's 'B' team emerged victorious in Winnipeg against a Jets club that iced a pretty close version of a regular season lineup.  Jussi Jokinen, Mark Letestu and Jujhar Khaira all had goals, while Kailer Yamamoto found the back of an empty net.  Laurent Brossoit and Nick Ellis split time in net, with Brossoit yielding just one goal en route to the Oilers victory.

The Oilers host the Canucks tonight at Rogers Place where the Oilers will look to continue a perfect preseason

Let's go to the tape.

The Oilers are saying

That's Oilers' forward Zack Kassian on Mark Letestu.

The line of Letestu-Jokinen-Khaira was a major player in Wednesday's 4-1 victory over the Jets.  Letestu had a beautiful primary assist on Jussi Jokinen's power play goal later on in the second period (RNH had some help in there) while Jokinen connected with Letestu earlier in the period to knot it at one.  Come to think of it, RNH had some help in that one too.

It's nice to see the team scoring when 97 and 29 aren't in the lineup.

The opponents are saying

That's Canucks forward Daniel Sedin.

Yeah, don't hold your breath.

Have some of this

  • The Canucks lost to the Kings in Shanghai, China on Thursday morning by a 5-2 margin. Why China?  Why not?  The Olympics will not feature NHL players in 2018, and there's a relatively untapped market for NHL hockey on that region of the globe.  I'm pretty sorry that the crowd had to be subjected to Vancouver on the ice, but every little bit counts.  Klefbom - Larsson is alive tonight to get some reps in.
  • I swear to God, you're going to see Mark Fayne tonight.
  • LINES: Jesse Puljujarvi is back on the ice with Ryan Nugent-Hopkins as of yesterday, and that's good news for everyone.  Hope to see some more Kailer Yamamoto, who was pretty good against Winnipeg on Thursday night.  UPDATE: No Jesse Puljujarvi again.  That's no bueno, though he's likely to play tomorrow.  Kailer Yamamoto is teamed up with...Chris Kelly and Iiro Pakarinen?  Sure, why not.
  • HOW LONG? - Kailer Yamamoto is everything I'd hope he'd be in his first two preseason games.  If he keeps humming along in preseason, is it really crazy to suggest he might hang out for nine games on the 23-man roster?
  • CUTS LIKE A KNIFE - Oilers shipped eight back to Bakersrfield yesterday including Ethan Bear, Ziyat Paigin and Joseph Gambardella.  Maybe a little early for Bear to go back, but other than that, no real surprises here.
  • Let's.  Go.  Oilers.
