LOOK: Kailer Yamamoto’s Goal On Calgary’s Jon Gillies Is A Dinger

Yamamoto plays two Flame defencemen like very tiny fiddles

2017 First round selection Kailer Yamamoto’s first preseason game was last night in Calgary. He scored a pretty nifty goal. Let’s have at it.

Hah, whoa. Back up there for a second.

Leon Draisaitl is carrying the puck into the Calgary end before getting pressure from three Flames. The puck finds itself behind the Calgary net when it’s eventually picked up by Calgary’s Mark Giordano. Giordano attempts a cross ice pass, but it’s snagged by Kailer Yamamoto.

Hang on, take a breath. We’re only half done.

Watch how Dougie Hamilton is looking like a cement statue as Yamamoto dances around him with apparent ease before burying the puck behind a bewildered Jon Gillies. If your mouth wasn’t agape after watching that goal, I don’t have anything for you. Giordano and Dougie Hamilton aren’t beer leaguers either. Not too bad from an eighteen year old in his first preseason game.

Yamamoto would add an assist to finish with two points. We could get used to this.

Kailer Yamamoto and the rest of the Edmonton Oilers are in Winnipeg tomorrow night to take on the Jets. The game will be available on the Oilers’ official website to those residing in Alberta, Saskatchewan and the NWT.
