Good Morning. Sorry I stepped aside yesterday but I understand that Jeff didn’t leave anyone hungry. Lets get this going.
Jim Matheson doesn’t see Ryan Nugent-Hopkins playing on Connor McDavid’s wing this season. Personally I think he, Ryan Strome and Jesse Puljujarvi will be in a ton of different spots this year. Here is a breakdown. (Edmonton Journal)
Last year the Oilers powerplay was fantastic. Unfortunately though, they’re penalty kill was below average. Lowetide has some ideas and this article is free. (OilersNation)
The Oilers rookies played against the Nait/MacEwen all-stars last night and... Marc-Olivier Daigle was outstanding. The issue is that he plays for the post-secondary team and not the Oilers. He was unbeatable in net and despite there being 1:20 left in the game as I’m typing, I’m going to report that he pitched a shutout. Incredibly well played and he might have a future in hockey. (Copper&Blue)
Craig Button stars in a click-baity video on TSN reggarding McDavid improving upon last year. It doesn’t provide us with anything new but I enjoy watching McDavid highlights and having TSN graphics and hyperbolic commentators. (TSN)
The Athletic has an Oilers season preview. It’s done by a spreadsheet and has the Oilers a lot lower than where everyone else has them. Direct anger towards excel please. (The Athletic)
That’s it for today. Point out my typos below.
