Thursday Morning Hot Links: The Numbers

Edmonton Oilers v Anaheim Ducks - Game Two Photo by Sean M. Haffey/Getty Images

Good Morning, don’t choke on these Links.

Patrick Maroon had 42 points last year on McDavid’s wing. Can he do it again? If so the Oilers are going to have to make yet another important decision next summer due to contracts. (Oil on Whyte)

Lowetide examines our Defense on the left side away from his personal website. It’s important to read because it talks about Oscar Klefbom, and anything that talks about our best defenseman since Chris Pronger is worth reading. (Oilers Nation)

One of the more mysterious players in the Oilers system is Ostap Safin. Almost no one has any idea how good or bad he is going to be. A player like this is exactly the way you would want the team to use a 4th round pick. Kurt Leavins tells us a little bit about him. (Edmonton Journal)

DownGoesBrown has decided to fill his Sportsnet quota this week with the ridiculous task of creating the best starting lineups using only players with the same jersey numbers. Reaffirming that this is August and there is very little NHL news going on. (Sportsnet)

Speaking of ridiculous articles, our own sdh0809 has taken the time to put a Top25Under25 list together of her own. The only difference is that this one is based on physical attractiveness of the Oilers players. It’s definitely on the lighter side of print and if you’re into that thing, it’s a nice break from hearing about Oilers Cap problems and bad trades. (Copper&Blue)

In actual NHL news, the Colorado Avalanche have landed the Alex Kerfoot sweepstakes. He’s one of those college kids that ended up as a UFA and could pick a team. It, um, doesn’t always work out for that team. (TSN)

That’s it for now. Maybe I’ll whip something together for the weekend so that we can argue. Comments encouraged.
