The Oilers have signed 2017 1st round pick (22nd overall) Kailer Yamamoto to an entry level contract. The team announced the deal on Thursday afternoon.
Yamamoto, who has been skating for team USA at the World Junior Summer Showcase this month, was one of the highest scoring players taken in the 2017 entry draft.
He has spent the last three seasons playing for the Spokane Chiefs, of the WHL, and will likely return there this season, barring a spectacular showing in training camp. Last season the Spokane native led the Chiefs in every offensive category, with 42 goals, 57 assists, and 99 points in 65 games.
Look forward to an in-depth assessment of Yamamoto soon, as he will be featured in our top-25 under 25 series.
