Today’s been a pretty busy day for the Oilers. A significant trade and a potential signing have dominated the press ink today. Somewhat in between all of the noise, the Oilers have released their 2017-18 regular season schedule.
The Oilers begin the regular season on a Wednesday, October 4th. They’ll face Jonny Gaudreau and the Flames for a Battle of Alberta before heading off to Vancouver to utterly obliterate the Canucks. Vancouver is struggling to find actual NHL players for this one, but I’ve got faith they’ll get their arrears in order by October.
The Oilers will travel to Pittsburgh to face off against the 2017 Cup Champs on October 24th. A week later, Sidney Crosby and the Penguins will be in Edmonton on November 1st.
Taylor Hall and the New Jersey Devils will visit Rogers Place on November 3rd. They’ll meet again in New Jersey less than a week later. Edmonton will visit the Islanders on November 7th to see Jordan Eberle in his new digs. The Vegas Golden Knights will visit Connor McDavid for the very first time on November 14th. Auston Matthews and the Leafs come around on November 30th.
Shea Weber and the Canadiens will drop by on December 23th for what will likely be a Hockey Night in Canada get-together. Patrik Laine and the Winnipeg Jets fly in for a New Year’s eve matinee on Sunday, December 31st.
