Jordan Eberle remains an Oiler...for now

Jordan Eberle’s name is in the middle of trade rumours everywhere, but he remains an Oiler for now.

Edmonton made zero moves prior to today’s roster freeze. NHL rosters will remain frozen until Thursday at 8 AM Eastern. The exception to the rule is Las Vegas, who is free to make deals throughout the roster freeze.

Edmonton’s uneventful day emulated much of the NHL, with only Calgary and Arizona making what could be called a ‘big’ move. The Coyotes dealt goaltender Mike Smith (with 25% salary retained) to Calgary for goalie Chad Johnson.

Montréal sent defenceman Nathan Beaulieu to the Buffalo Sabres for a third round pick. If Montréal would like to send us Jeff Petry, I’d be more than willing to ship them two third round picks. C’mon, Habs.

Stay close by the dial-up. The Oilers (along with the rest of the NHL) must submit their protected list by 5 PM Eastern. Protected lists will be unveiled tomorrow morning.
