Leon Draisaitl will not miss any time due to an incident that took place on Tuesday night.
Down by five goals with six minutes remaining iAn the second period, Leon Draisaitl was assessed a five minute major penalty along with a game misconduct for spearing Sharks forward Chris Tierney in the testicles.
Draisaitl would receive a hearing form the Department of Player Safety, who has been as consistent as a mental patient’s diaper. The Oilers would be in a world of hurt should the Department suspend Draisaitl for any length of time.
The verdict? A fine of $2569.44, which sounds suspiciously like a prize to be won on the Gong Show. The good news for the Oilers? Draisaitl misses no time. The Oilers are coming up on a fairly important game 5 after getting shellacked by a 7-0 margin in San Jose. That’s good news for the home team. It’s bad news for Chris Tierney’s testicles.
ELSEWHERE
Mark Fayne has been called up. With Jordan Oesterle, too. And Anton Lander. And Joey LaLeggia. Do any of these players make it into the lineup? If you’re playing bingo at home, probably not. Though, I’d take a chance on Anton Lander on the fourth line and Mark Fayne as my 7th defenceman should McLellan decide to do something wonky with Matt Benning.
The Oilers are tied 2-2 with the San Jose Sharks in the Western Conference Quarter-Finals. They face off against those Sharks at home on Thursday at 8:30 PM MDT.
