Play The Percentages

The Oilers are in the playoffs.  It is good.

The homestand rolls on tonight with the San Jose Sharks coming to town.  Depending on where the chips fall in the next five games, this could be a first round matchup.  I hope it is not.

But, playoffs.

The Oilers are saying

That's Matthew Benning on his knee.

Benning was held out of the lineup on Tuesday's Big Day, and will likely be in tonight for Eric 'The Sledgehammer' Gryba.

The opponents are saying

WE WANT TO SCORE

That's Sharks forward Chris Tierney, who had two goals in San Jose's 5-4 victory over the Rangers.

Have some of this

  • That's a fourth line I can get behind.
  • Jarome Iginla scored a goal en route to LA's 4-1 victory over the Flames. Calgary's on the outside of the playoff picture for the time being.  The Oilers, are not on the outside of the playoff picture. The Edmonton Oilers are in the playoffs.  It's completely wacky typing that still. Gonna enjoy it for the time being.
  • Cam Talbot was in between the pipes for the Oilers on Tuesday's clincher against the Kings, and he'll be there tonight against the Sharks.  (38-21-8, .920 SV% / 2.40 GAA / 7 SO).  Look for Martin Jones (33-20-6, .912 SV% / 2.37 GAA / 2 SO) as the Sharks begin their first game of a back-to-back.
  • The Oilers will be without Tyler Pitlick (knee).  The Sharks are without forwards Micheal Haley (suspended) and Logan Couture, who took a puck to the mouth.
