With a victory against the Los Angeles Kings tonight, the Oilers will do something they haven’t done in over a decade. A win over the Kings will punch Edmonton’s ticket to the second season. That’s good, because it’ll cross something off of my list full of things to bitch about.
How To Tune In

What To Watch For From The Oilers
After a much needed night off, Cam Talbot will ride once again in between the pipes for the Oilers. An overworked Talbot playing the next night after getting yanked the night prior makes little to no sense. Laurent Brossoit filled in nicely for Edmonton against the Avalanche, and it’s time for Talbot to take control once again.
What to Watch For From The Kings
Well, friends, we are getting down to the wire here, if by “down to the wire” you mean “waiting for the sweet icy touch of death and/or draft pick order”, depending on how you’re viewing the end of the season. It’s too late to tank for Nolan Patrick or Nico Hischier, so at this point, it’s just a matter of playing the games out and hoping that Dean Lombardi and the scouts actually make smart choices with their draft picks (and then don’t trade the prospects away for rentals a few years from now).
I’ve seen this rerun before, but it usually ends with a lottery pick.
Final Thought
Just win. Win tonight. Get this team and the fans to the playoffs. Everyone’s waited. They’ve been through how many rebuilds? They’ve trusted the process. They’ve gone to how many draft parties?
It’s time.
It’s time to make the playoffs.
