After forty minutes of play on Thursday, the Oilers trailed the Avalanche by a 4-2 margin. Cam Talbot was relieved by Laurent Brossoit, and the Oilers had a five goal third period to take the contest by a 7-4 margin.
It’s Laurent Brossoit between the pipes to start tonight, as Cam Talbot gets a much-deserved day of rest. Calvin Pickard gets the nod for Colorado. Can the Oilers take two more points from the Avalanche?

What To Watch For From The Oilers
The Avalanche look like a Junior B team out there on most evenings. They’re a stone cold lock to be the worst team in the NHL this year, and while I’d advise the Oilers to not look past this one until the game is over, the Oilers should handle them without much affair. Laurent Brossoit needs to see the puck in his first start in over a month, and the Oilers need to simply play their game.
What to Watch For From The Avalanche
From Mile High Hockey
Jared Bednar likes the production he’s been getting out of the guys he’s been benching, not enough that he’s going to stop benching them tho’. Who’s the lucky guy tonight? We know Calvin will be back in net thankfully
The thought of being thankful for Calvin Pickard being in net sends shivers down my spine.
Final Thought
A Sharks loss and an Oilers win will propel the Oilers into a three way tie for first in the Pacific. The Oilers need to do what they’re supposed to do here and turn out the light on Colorado early.
