Not Quite Seven, But Enough

Cam Talbot's 33 saves propelled the Oilers to a 2-0 victory over the Canucks.  The shutout was Talbot's sixth of the season, and it briefly put the Oilers back into third place in the Pacific Division.

Back in the Wild Card, they'll take on a Kings club that was soundly defeated at the hands of the Flames last night.  A win tonight will put twelve points between Edmonton and Los Angeles, and it will relegate the Flames back to fourth place in the Pacific.

Can the Oilers take advantage of a tired Kings club?

BACKS AGAINST THE WALL

The Kings are six points away from the final Wild Card spot currently held by Nashville.  More importantly for the Oilers, a win for the good guys will put twelve points in between themselves and the Kings.

JAROME IGINLA POST TRADE BOXCARS:  3-1-4 in 8 GP.  Much easier to root for since he's nto on the Flames, it'd be a downright shame if this was his last season.

The Kings haven't allowed a power play goal away from home since January 21st.  The Oilers have had five in their last three games.

If Cam Talbot (36-20-8, .921 SV% / 2.39 GAA / 6 SO) didn't start tonight, I'd send out a search party.  Jonathan Quick (5-1-1, .921 SV% / 2.23 GAA / 1 SO) was pulled very early last night, and it wouldn't surprise me to see him get the green light tonight.

Tyler Pitlick (knee) will be out for the Oilers. The Kings are without forwards Nick Shore (upper body), Jordan Nolan (lower body) and defenceman Matt Greene (back)

BIG GAME: A win tonight will cap the Oilers' homestand at a successful 5-2-1.  It'll also put them back in third place, and it will put twelve points between themselves and the Kings for the final leg of the season.
