- The Oilers emerged victorious over the Vancouver Canucks last night. Vancouver outshot the Oilers by a 33-22 margin, but Connor McDavid and Mark Letestu each had goals en route to a 2-0 victory.
- Edmonton didn’t get on the board until late in the second when Connor McDavid flicked the switch. McDavid’s 25th goal of the year gives him 80 points on the season. McDavid skates over the Canuck blue line, says a quick hello to Alex Edler before ripping it by Richard Bachman’s glove. It’s the first 80 point season by an Oiler since Taylor Hall (2013-14).
- Cam Talbot’s 33-save performance earns him his sixth shutout of the season. Maybe he’ll get a break during one of the Avalanche games.
- Mark Letestu checks in with a third period power play goal that also acts as an insurance goal. Leon Draisaitl had an assist on both goals, giving him his 62nd and 63rd points on the year. That next Draisaitl deal is shaping up to be a monster. Then again, the McDavid one will probably be a little pricey as well.
