FOR THE OILERS
- After just over six and one-half minutes of ice time on Wednesday, Kailer Yamamoto will be a healthy scratch tonight. The right side is wafer-thin right now, and because of that I’m a little surprised that McLellan is putting him in the press box after just one game and six minutes of ice.
- Iiro Pakarinen will draw in on the fourth line, while Zack Kassian will replace Yamamoto on line two.
- The Oilers have recalled Anton Slepyshev from Bakersfield. Don’t expect to see much of him tonight, but an appearance against Winnipeg on Monday is likely in the cards.
- Do the Oilers get any secondary scoring tonight? Will they need it?
FOR VANCOUVER
- Scoring is going to come at a premium for Vancouver this year. If they’re to succeed, they’ll need to get mileage from the top line, which will Sedin twins along with free agent newcomer Thomas Vanek.
- After skating as an extra in yesterday’s skate, Jake Virtanen will slot in at the third right wing spot for Vancouver. Virtanen had a strong preseason with six points (4-2-6) in six games.
- That’s A Third Pair™ of Ben Hutton and Troy Stecher. Should be fun to watch. Yeah.
