Good morning, all.

Kailer Yamamoto is approaching his 9th NHL game and his contract status is becoming a topic of discussion. What would you do about it? (Oilers Nation)

Sammi says this team isn’t fast enough and she might have a point. Beyond Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, speed really isn’t a strength here. (Oil on Whyte)

Speaking of speed, Jesse Marshall breaks down Brian Dumoulin’s gap control against Connor McDavid. Dumoulin no doubt does a good job here, but watching these three clips, it’s pretty obvious to anyone who watches the Oilers what the real issue is here. Have any of you seen McDavid skate that casually in situations like this before? (The Athletic)

The Vegas Golden Knights have given Vadim Shipachyov permission to talk to other teams about a trade. He hasn't played well so far this year and carries and ugly contract with a 4.5M cap hit for two years. I’m not sure he’s going to have much luck. (TSN)

I’ve seen a few comments on the internet citing plus/minus. I’m not saying you can’t use it, but I am saying that it’s important to note that we have an abysmal shooting % at the moment. This old article from our friends at the Jets’ SBN site is a must read before using it to call out certain Oiler players. (Arctic Ice Hockey)

I wrote a piece yesterday about finding a solution to the Oilers issues. A certain commenter believes that Another Kris Russell Hate Piece would be a more appropriate title. I don’t think that’s true, I also threw shade on Ryan Strome, Matt Benning, Jujhar Khaira and the NHL’s love of lockouts. (Copper&Blue)

Because we play the Stars tonight, I think our weekly video should be this hilarious incident. The nice part about this play is that no one remembers or cares who actually won the game.

That’s all for now. We’ll have all the usual game features up today and I expect nothing less than a win. Then I’ll make the Links hot again.
