The #Oilers have recalled forward Brad Malone from the Bakersfield @Condors & placed forward Drake Caggiula on Injured Reserve.

We still don’t know what’s ailing Drake Caggiula yet, but he’s missed a week and he’s headed to IR. Things get wacky now that Leon Draisaitl’s “eye injury” has been upgraded (downgraded?) to “concussion-like symptoms”. (Side note: crap.)
Here comes Brad Malone.
A late cut to the preseason roster, Malone has three points with Bakersfield (2-1-3) in three games this season. It’s a fair bet that we’ll see him in on the fourth line for Monday’s game at home versus Carolina. Malone was signed to a two year deal in July. His last NHL regular season action was two seasons ago as a member of the Carolina Hurricanes.
LEON
Losing Leon Draisaitl for any length of time is big potatoes. I’m particularly concerned that we went from ‘eye injury’ to a possible concussion three days after the Jets game. Kailer Yamamoto earned his first assist in the NHL filling in for Leon last night, but the Oilers have a pretty big dent in their lineup with Draisaitl on the outside. Leon will need to be 100% before entertaining the idea of getting back on the ice. For his sake (and ours), we can only hope that’s sooner than later.
