Good Morning, I’ve got quite a few links to go around today.
To start off, Eric Francis tells the world that hockey fans everywhere should celebrate Jaromir Jagr suiting up for the Calgary Flames. I agree, he’s an icon, one of the best players of all time and is still shockingly productive at 45 years old. As an Oilers fan it’s easy to let the Flames have this one because we are so strong at the RW position that we would have had absolutely no use for a 50-point player. (Sportsnet)
Elliotte Friedman brings us his 31 thoughts for the week. There are some doozies in here as always. Is he the most connected reporter in hockey? He has to be, right? (Sportsnet)
These links are pretty Sportsnet heavy, DownGoesBrown gives us 10 things learned in the first week of NHL action. Look, it’s the first week and writers have families to feed too. (Sportsnet)
Paige digs into past Cam Talbot performances and compares them to Walter White and Heisenberg. Actually she uses Jekyll and Hyde, Anakin and Vader would also be acceptable. (Two for Crosschecking)
Leon Draisaitl was featured on a German sports channel. Oilers nation reported a translation from a different outlet and now I am reporting that report of a report of a channel. I like it. (Oilers Nation)
Matt Benning is going to sit out the next game. He’s been bad. (Copper & Blue)
Jonathan Willis points out that sitting Benning doesn’t actually make that second pairing any better. There’s a glaring issue still present there and he points it out. (The Athletic)
That’s all for today. I know we’re all down because we have a losing record right now and we have four days of people pointing out flaws with the team. Things that, although present, might not be analyzed to the point they are being right now had we won the last game. It’s so bad that I don’t even want to write about a topic that I really want to write about until we have a win because I refuse to jump on the dog pile. In the meantime, I’m going to start posting a video in the links every Thursday. Today’s is a reminder of the time when it was worse than it’s ever been. Far, far worse than being 1-2-0 three games in.
Enjoy, comment below.
