The Oilers took care of the Flames in both split-squad games on Monday. Anton Slepyshev and Jere Sallinen had goals for the Oilers in Calgary, while four separate Oilers scored at Rogers Place. Two meaningless wins! It's not even the beginning of April yet!
The Oilers will take on the Canucks tonight at Rogers Arena in Vancouver. Let's get to the good stuff.
Oilers @ Canucks
8 PM MST
TV: Sportsnet One
The opposition: Canucks Misconduct
MILAN LUCIC - CONNOR MCDAVID - JORDAN EBERLE
PATRICK MAROON - DRAKE CAGGIULA - KRIS VERSTEEG
BENOIT POULIOT - JERE SALLINEN - ANTON SLEPYSHEV
TAYLOR BECK - JUJHAR KHAIRA - TYLER PITLICK
GRIFFIN REINHART - DILLON SIMPSON
DARNELL NURSE - BRENDAN DAVIDSON
JOEY LALEGGIA - DAVID MUSIL
JONAS GUSTAVSSON
- TOP SIX VERSTEEG: I think Versteeg's going to be a full time Oiler very soon. Versteeg scored a goal on Monday, had seventeen minutes of ice time and nearly six minutes (!) of PP time.
- MINOR THREAT: Kris Versteeg is in for Nail Yakupov tonight, who is out with a "minor issue". YMMV
- There's David Musil!
- Connor McDavid is going to be front and centre with Milan Lucic and Jordan Eberle. If it clicks, I'd expect to see it a whole lot over the rest of this season. Connor McDavid, you guys.
- NO NUGE - No Nuge tonight, though he's scheduled to play in Winnipeg on Friday. No Draisaitl or Sekera until after the WCOH, but you knew that.
- Goaltender Jonas Gustavsson played half a game and turned aside 10 of 10 shots in his Oilers debut in Calgary. He's going to get the start tonight. He frightens me.
- HUNTER: Oilers are 2-0 with Hunter the Lynx as the official mascot. I'm just sayin'.
- Tonight's game is on Sportsnet One. This is a good thing, because Monday night's streaming experience was somewhat, uh...lacking.
