The Oilers have inked Jonas Gustavsson to a one year deal to join the Oilers for the 2016-17. Gustavsson last was seen in Boston in 2015-16 where he posted a 11-9-1 with a .908 save percentage. Prior to last season, Gustavsson spent three years in Detroit where his SV% exceeded .910 exactly once.
A handful of goaltenders including Jhonas Enroth were available at the time of this writing, and with that, the Oilers definitely missed out. Gustavsson's lifetime SV% is a not-replacement-level .902 and I've got to believe that there were better options for a bit more capital. With a career .902 SV%, I'm less than thrilled.
If you expand the list to include all goalies with 1,000 5v5 minutes between 2012 and now, Gustavsson SV% ranks 70th, just back of Nilsson.
