Former Oilers Prospect Scores GWG Against Oilers, Sun Bright, Water Wet.

Tobias Rieder scored for the Coyotes late in the second period.  The goal was Rieder's thirteenth goal of the year, and it was the game winner for Arizona.  Arizona capped off a season sweep of the Oilers with an empty net goal from Max Domi late in the final minute of the third period.  The Oilers did manage to score a power play goal in the first period courtesy of Jordan Eberle, and Connor McDavid had himself a two point night, but the Oilers picked up their fortieth regulation loss of the season for the sixth straight 82 game season.

The Oilers are in San Jose for the first time since Darnell Nurse was suspended for his actions against Roman Polak.  Will there be any retribution?  Let's go to the tape

That's Oilers head coach Todd McLellan on Ryan Nugent-Hopkins.  Nugent-Hopkins took a high stick, a puck to the eye, and a big hit.  He's not practicing today, and it wouldn't shock me to see him miss tonight's game.

  • Darnell Nurse will play San Jose for the first time since he was suspended for three games.  Will there be retribution?  The Sharks are looking to clinch a playoff spot tonight.  Doubtful.
  • Connor McDavid, you guys. Two more assists give him 42 points in 39 games.  Only seven behind some kid named Jack Eichel.  Not bad when you miss half the seaosn with a broken clavicle.  That's pretty good, hey?
  • Andrew Ference (hip), Brandon Davidson (knee), Adam Pardy (hand), Eric Gryba (knee), Benoit Pouliot (shoulder)  Ryan Nugent-Hopkins (concussion) and Oscar Klefbom (leg), are out for the Oilers, . The Sharks are without Marc-Edouard Vlasic (lower body), Matthew Nieto (hand), and Matt Tennyson (concussion).
